It is someone, in great despair, calling for help, expanding his cry to the world beyond, and hoping, against all odds, that someone will answer that cry.

SOS And yet, sometimes this cry is quiet. It does not howl with the fury of a cyclone, nor does it roar with the wrath of an earthquake. Sometimes, these cries are the most painful ones of all, because no one can hear them. When no one can hear you call, no one can come to your rescue.

SOS Stories of Silence.

Creative Arts Programme 2008: Healing Silence brought together nearly 150 specially-selected students from all across Singapore, to present their takes on this delicate topic of stillness, silence, and how it can contribute to the healing of Man, his nature, his character, and changing lives forever.

5 days of intensive plenary lectures, writing and performance workshops, forums and minor seminars have resulted in everyone attaining something they have not had before: A sense of understanding.

Understanding between you, and the other like-minded people who have as much, if not more talent, than you. Understanding of the bigger pictures, the bigger world out there, with all its pain. Understanding how you, as the writer, can wield weapons so much more powerful than brute strength, and can use those weapons to make things right.

Think of this blog as more of a forum, one of our own (without Daren Shau...) which we can use to express our opinions, our views, and most importantly, our writing. Comment on others' works, respect them all, and post some of your own up here. Share what we have learned, share what we know and feel, and we WILL learn, and we WILL feel.

Welcome to SOS.

Stories of Silence: A Collection of Works from CAP Participants 2008

P.S. If you're a participant of CAP 2008 and want to be involved (but has not recieved an invite to be an Author yet) send an email to my Blogger account, gkarliang@gmail.com and wait for me to contact you!

P.P.S In case you're wondering, if you have a gmail account, you automatically have a Blogger account.
